This e-learning course has been designed specifically for professionals who have recently joined or are about to join, a Higher Education (HE) institution in the United Kingdom as a member of staff. The course is not specific to academic staff; rather, it has been designed to include all staff new to HE working across a range of roles and departments. It covers topics related to people, regulations, teaching and learning, and funding within the higher education context.
Course learning outcomes:
- Understand the different roles in a Higher Education institution, how they fit into the larger framework and their impact on the institution's success,
- Understand inclusive teaching approaches in Higher Education in comparison to other educational methods and recognise the significance of Continuing Professional Development for ongoing growth,
- Identify various organisations that govern and ensure Higher Education meets quality standards and understand the consequences of not meeting quality standards and regulations,
- Understanding the ways in which HEIs sustain themselves financially and the challenges faced by HE as a whole and at local level HEIs.
This course will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
